Catherine Connor
Born in Australia, Catherine Connor initially studied piano and trombone at Sydney Conservatorium graduating with a teaching diploma and also completed an ATCL in pianoforte. She then went on to perform professionally in many ensembles including jazz and contemporary bands as a pianist, as well as an accompanist and arranger for jazz vocalists.
She has been a music educator and musical director for musical theatre groups and choirs as well as composing for various ensembles including brass groups. Arrangements and compositions have been performed at festivals in Melbourne including Victorian Parliament events MIAF, Boite world music festival, Victorian school festivals and gallery openings.
She holds a Masters Degree in Music Studies from Melbourne University (Composition, Arranging), an Honours degree in Composition from Monash University Bachelor of Contemporary Music Performance from Victoria University. She currently lectures in jazz piano, jazz theory and improvisation, is a freelance jazz-pianist, and private teacher.
